China has vowed to crush any actions by Japan related to deploying missiles on an island near Taiwan, at a military base in Yonaguni.
In detail, China's Ministry of Defense stated on Thursday that Japan would pay a "heavy price" if it crosses the red line regarding Taiwan, in response to Japan's plans to deploy missiles on an island approximately 100 kilometers from Taiwan's coast.China Threatens and Warns Japan
In this context, Japanese Defense Minister Shingo Kōzumi said last Sunday that the plans are "proceeding steadily" to deploy a medium-range surface-to-air missile unit at a military base in Yonaguni, an island about 110 kilometers off Taiwan's eastern coast. In response to a question about this deployment, which China's Foreign Ministry has already criticized, China's Ministry of Defense stated that how the "Taiwan issue" is resolved is a Chinese matter and has no relation to Japan, which controlled Taiwan from 1895 until the end of World War II in 1945.Spokesman for the ministry, Jiang Bin, said in a regular press briefing: "Not only has Japan failed to deeply reflect on its serious crimes of aggression and colonial rule in Taiwan, but instead, in defiance of world public opinion, it lives in the illusion of military intervention in the Taiwan Strait.
"Worst Diplomatic Conflict He continued: "The People's Liberation Army possesses strong capabilities and reliable means to defeat and crush any invading enemy. If the Japanese side dares to cross the line even by half a step and bring trouble upon itself, it will inevitably pay a heavy price."These statements come amid the worst diplomatic conflict between the two countries in years, following Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaitchi's statement that any Chinese attack on Taiwan might reach the level of a "survival-threatening situation" and prompt Tokyo to respond militarily.
