Emirates: Fire After Drone Attack on Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Al Dhafra

Authorities in the UAE announced Sunday evening that a fire broke out in an electrical generator at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Al Dhafra. They clarified that the fire was caused by a drone attack, but there were no injuries.

In detail, the Abu Dhabi Media Office explained on Sunday that authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi responded to a fire that broke out at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region, caused by a drone attack.

The statement issued by the office added: "Authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi responded to a fire that broke out in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region. The fire was caused by a drone attack, and there were no injuries or impact on radiation safety levels. All precautionary measures have been taken, and we will provide updates as they become available."

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation confirmed that the fire did not affect the safety of the plant or the readiness of its essential systems, and that all units are operating normally.

The authority and relevant bodies also urged the public not to spread rumors and to obtain information only from official sources.
